Reluctantly offered for sale - a magnificent early Mission Oak even-arm settle. Through tenon and pinned construction throughout. This settle has been professionally refinished since when acquired it unfortunately was sporting a light coat of paint on the better part of the piece. The settle is now restored and once again has a rich wonderful warm brown tone. No cushions are offered as the buyer may wish to have leather cushions made or use materials to match another piece. This settle very much resembles the _____ model 208. No markings have been discovered on the settle - perhaps some time during its lengthy career it had lost a paper label or decal that may have better identified its pedigree and provenance. Never the less, this is a stately and beautiful rarity that deserves an appreciative home. Quality early Mission furniture (even generic pieces) has enjoyed considerable price appreciation of late and no doubt will continue to escalate in value. This is a Rare opportunity - reserve price is realistic - far below the auction estimate I had received from knowledgeable experts. The settle measures ~ 76 inches in overall length, is 27 inches deep, the top of the corner posts measure 35 inches from the floor. The front rail is 15 inches up from the floor to the top edge. The inside dimensions of the area w the lower cushion (s) would fit measures 23 inches by 70 inches. The settle is very solid - no looseness about it in any fashion. The vertical posts are formed from multiple pieces of oak. T are nine slats in the back and three on the ends, under each arm. The right rear leg base has had some repair - t is also a 3/8 block under that leg as at some time perhaps someone thought it expedient to slightly shorten the leg to keep the settle level on a not so level floor. This aspect is virtually unnoticeable but I do want to be forthright in my description so I mention this minor imperfection. This is a large heavy item. Ideally the buyer should pick this up or arrange shipment with professionals like Craters and Freighters. I can deliver a reasonable distance for expenses and may be able to deliver an unreasonable distance if I happen to be making a trip in your direction for another purpose. Please look at the end of this listing for answers to question that may arise. Thanks good luck and God Bless! Dave Cost of refinishing exceeded $400.00 This was not a dip and strip refinish - Many painstaking hours w required to carefully remove the old paint and replicate the original warm brown tone. The original cushions vanished I would say over fifty years ago. The settle had been in storage longer than anyone could remember. This settle originally came out of an upscale summer cottage river community and may date back as early as 1910 - 1925. Brown leather cushions would be best on this but that is just my pinion. Her are some more pictures - still the lighting is the cause of the uneven look. Pictures do no justice to the true beauty of this settle! Thanks, dave
