Antique English Victorian Tallboy Dresser, in Qsawn Oak, Dating to c.1900! Our latest container has just arrived from the UK, and this item is from it. We have more extraordinary things that we'll be listing in the coming days and weeks, from the 17th century through the Georgian and Victorian periods to the Gothic Revival, Aesthetic, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco Movements and later. Be SURE to check out our other auctions!!! This is another beautiful piece of furniture, An Original and Genuine Antique English Victorian Arts & CraftsMission Jacobean Revival Tallboy Dresser, in Quartersawn Oak, w/ Integral 2-Door Cupboard Over 3 Graduated Full-Width Drawers, w/ Orig Working Lock and Key, Dating to c.1900..! It is a wonderful dresser, and is a very useful size, see 6 pics above and 11 below. This piece is commonly called a 'tallboy' in England, though no one seems quite sure why! Of solid quartersawn oak, it features a moulded-edge top over twin doors fronting the top cupboard flanked by turned appliques to each side on the cabinet stiles. Those doors have central true-panels edged in reeded ogee Jacobean moulding, and they are complete with the original brass shoot-bolts to the inside top and bottom of the left-hand door, with the original working lock, key and teardrop pull-handle to the right-hand one. Those doors open to reveal two removeable shelves, all over three full-width graduated drawers with moulding to match the cupboard above. It measures 53 1/2" high by 36" wide by 17 1/2" deep overall, whilst the cupboard provides an open area 29" wide by 23" high by 15" deep with the removeable shelves lifted out. The drawer handles are age-old replacements, a small piece of moulding on the top of the left-hand door panel may be a replacement and t is an age-related shrinkage gap in the right-hand door panel, but those are its only flaws, and it remains immensely useable and useful. It is superbly sturdy on its bracket feet. Whether you want to use it as a TV / Video cabinet or simply somew to swiftly stuff all the kids' toys when guests arrive unexpectedly, this is the ideal piece. Having the cupboard key means, if it's used as a TV cabinet, access to the 'idiot-lantern' can be denied whilst homework is taken care of..! THE SHIPPING COST QUOTED INCLUDES INSURANCE, TWO-MAN DELIVERY AND PLACEMENT IN THE HOME or BUYERS ARE WELCOME TO COLLECT AT NO COST This is a genuine antique Victorian tallboy - Be SURE to check out our other auctions!!! 'The Yorkshireman Antiques & Collectibles' always has the esoteric and unusual English items we're renowned for. The one thing we DON'T have is reproduction. EVERYTHING we sell is original and genuine, as anyone who has ever bought from us knows very well. I am English, and my wife and I go to England regularly and buy EVERY item ourselves. We do NOT buy pre-loaded containers. Every item we offer has been found by us, haggled-over and bought by us, carried, wrapped and packed in a container by us and then shipped to the US by us. We control the quality of what we buy and we know the source of EVERY item we sell. Our particular interests lie in Arts and Crafts Mission items and Art Nouveau, though we have everything imaginable, from c.1600 to the 1930s. N.B. Please be aware that ALL the items we sell are at least vintage and often truly antique. Vintage and antique items HAVE flaws, e.g. scratches, marks and wear and tear. We try to describe our items accurately, detailing the flaws we consider worthy of separate mention, but our opinion of condition remains subjective. We do not mislead and include all the information we have regarding an item's condition within the auction listing. Unfortunately, we are not experts, in anything. We are knowledgeable in certain areas, but we are not authorities in any field. Remember, one man's tarnish is another man's patina..! If an item is 80/90/100 years old, it is NOT new and will not LOOK new - but isn't that...
