Mississippi State Fund Dollar, HK408, from the 1915Panama-Pacific International Exposition. A numismatic tragedy – this is a very tough type and would be Gem BU except for the hole drilled in it! The technique suggests that this was done near the time of issue, probably to convert this item to a watch fob. There is a small rectangular area scribed around the hole, and a few tiny dents that look like hole starts – obviously, the attempt was abandoned, possibly after the drill skipped a lightly scratched the surface as shown.
