MISSOURI PACIFIC Railroad China ~MISSION~ CEREAL BOWL
Up for auction is a great Cereal Bowl mfg by Syracuse China for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in the "Mission" pattern (MP-8). Beautiful Southwestern mission scenes with palm trees. Pattern is in reddish-brown on Syracuse's light brown Adobe china base. This is an Exclusive use railroad pattern in the Syracuse China version only. Other companies, including Wallace China made similar patterns, which were NOT ordered by Mopac for use on their trains.

Excellent condition. No chips or cracks or dings. Only light utensil marks from dining car use. One little dimple in the "well" of the bowl. This occurred during manufacturing and is glazed over.

Measures just over 6 1/4" across and about 1 3/4" tall. Bottomstamped with brown Abobe ware Syracuse China backstamp.

This pattern can be seen in Luckin's Dining on Rails pg 192 & also found in Doug McIntyre's book The Official Guide to Railroad Dining Car China on pgs 73 & 89. He states that this pattern was first ordered by the New Orleans, Texas & Mexico on 5-31-33 & last ordered in 1948. This pattern was never RR backstamped according to Luckin.
