Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock reprint A Rare Opportunity- Check out these offerings. This unique combination of high quality, old reprints and fantastic provenance will not be repeated. Collect old prints with the Muller provenance and delve into the exotic world of old Japan. How were these prints done? These beautiful woodblock reprints were done exactly as the originals. An artist carved a wood block, one for each color, and hand printed each print one color at a time. These old reprints are sought after for their meticulous attention to detail and color, rivaling the originals. Unlike the brighter, souvenir prints seen on the market these fine reprints show the attention to detail and careful color choices intended to exactly replicate the old originals. Detail of this Print Miyanokoshi Series; 69 Stations of the Kiso Highway The 69 Stations of the Kiso Highway- Hiroshige's fantastic Kiso Highway series was done in the late 1830's and represents a further evolution of his landscape design style, including some of his most modern designs. This masterpiece series chronicled life along the Kiso Highway (the upper road from Edo to Kyoto, mirroring the lower Tokaido) and captures the wonder of this rural Japanese journey in Hiroshige's time. Including images from all seasons, day and night, moonlit and rain, Hiroshige captured the essence of life and travels along the Kiso Road. He brings to life the captivating daily lives of the Japanese in the 19 th century. Tonight at Fuji arts we are pleased to offer a select group of prints from the Kiso-kaido series. These prints have been hand selected as the most stunning and desirable from the series. Browse this wonderful group of Hiroshige landscapes and select a few for yourself. Our lovely reprints from the Muller collection are especially finely printed with care taken to emulate Hiroshige's original colors. Each print sold with certificate of authenticity from Fuji Arts (noting Muller collection provenance). Condition- Some light spotting along bottom edge. Excellent unless otherwise noted. Muller was known as a first rate conservator and took exquisite care when storing his prints.
