Adams & Westlake Bell Bottom Lantern Delaware & Hudson Up until it's acquisition by Canadian Pacific in 1991, the Delaware & Hudson was the oldest transportation company in America still operating under its original name, tracing back to the D&H Canal, chartered in 1823. This lantern has the unusual "bell bottom" design giving it excellent stability, and still retains much of the apparently original finish which may have been a grey or olive color. Unlike most lanterns I have seen, the handle cannot be locked in an upright position. The latest patent date shown is 1895, which indicates that the lantern may be over 100 years old. The lamp body is solid, with no loose parts. The clear globe, with its cast-in "The D&H" in script lettering, is in near-perfect condition. Please examine the photos carefully before bidding. I think that you will agree that this is an interesting and historic old lamp in truely remarkable condition for its age. That's all the descriptive data folks, but I strongly recommend that you read the following "fine print" carefully before bidding PAYMENT Unfortunately, I must collect 7% Sales Tax from my beleagured fellow New Jerseyites.
