This is my model of the RNLI Watson 41' lifeboat. I made this over many hours. The reason was I could not find a kit of a decent size, there is one available but very small and very very expensive. So the model is 64" long, 18" beam, Draft is 4.5". I acquired the original plans from the RNLI which I will include if required. The hull is of 3mm foam core then fibreglassed, the keelson and bulkheads are all of 14mm birch faced ply. The hull then filled and faired with waterproof adhesive filler. Then had 4 coats of top quality marine paint. The deck is of 4mm birch faced ply, then mahogany planked. The cabin or dog houses are of solid mahogany planking. The lights are wired up to a rechargeable 6 volt sealed battery. the wired lights are the large and small searchlights, the masthead light, the stern light and the port and starboard navigation lights. I built this as a static model but it wouldn't take a great deal to convert it to radio control with the know how. The propellers are solid brass 2.5" on display shafts. The crew are of seven included, these are action men fully dressed in yellow oilskins with boots, helmets and lifejackets. The masts are carbon fibre the rigging stainless steel. This is heavy so collection only, I will deliver it to Portsmouth free of charge to the ferry terminal on a cradle for collection. I could write read more
