Vertical Steam Engine A superb example of a rare form of steam engine, as described bellow the engine functions beautifully, has a characteristic sound. Fully machined and fitted Double acting Over all height including ali base 6 1/2" 4mm dia compression joint input Ticks over nicely on 10psi of compressed air 3/4" bore, with 3/4" stroke An attractive and well balanced engine All joints silver soldered The valve used by later steam trains, is a more modern version of the "slide valve". For want of a better description, "hand fabricated". Simple compression joint to attach engine to boiler or compressor. I use high tensile black hexagon head bolts, for esthetic and structural reasons. 8mm dia shaft ideal for pulley or universal joint.
