You are Bidding on "Formations" a Unique Sculpture Series by Rick McCraryThis Piece measures 48" X 12" and projects off the wall a full 1 inch.The bottom edge of the panel has been rolled to soften the edge as it meets the wall.All corners have been welded. smoothed and polished.The elegant lines and ribbons are hand burnished directly into the stainless steel surface.This burnishing technique allows the ribbons to glow bright and then go into shadow depending on the viewing angle.This process also makes the lines weave under and over one another at the intersections creating a 3D effect.The piece is also affected by lighting conditions in the room, looking very different at night as compared to daytime.One can get a sense of this by viewing the images closely.But images don't really capture this amazing effect. Circular openings have been cut away among the graceful lines and are inlaid with pieces of blue and green colored dichroic glass.The beautiful dichroic glass has the unique property of changing colors from bright blue to deep purple to emerald green to yellow green depending on the viewing angle.Dichroic glass is formed in a vacuum furnace w exotic metals are vaporized and deposited on the glass surface creating a permanent colored metal film.The "Formations" Series embodies both a rythmic and relaxing feeling of wind blowing read more
