Modern Library Giant- U.S.A., THE 42ND PARALLEL, NINETEEN NINETEEN, THE BIG MONEY , by John Dos Passos, stated First Modern Library Giant Edition 1939, author signed on right side endpaper. Prior owner has personalized with same page with his name. Condition of the book is Fine in really beautiful light tan linen boards, there is a spot of foxing at the center of the hinge. The endpapers show some toning. Very fine book with a straight spine, hinge and binding. The boards are really pretty on this book. There is a top stain in really nice reddish brown. I have never seen this color before. It is really special. Spine: At the top, a colored field bounded by bars with lettering over the field; at the bottom, a Kent torchbearer followed by a field of the same color as the one at the top bounded by bars with lettering over the field "MODERN LIBRARY." Front: Kent torchbearer image, in use: 1938 - 1944. Dust jacket is Good Plus, color is still good; not price clipped @1.25; some shelf wear at the top/bottom edge of spine and at the corners. (see scan). No noticeable rubbing; some soiling on the back. Someone took care of this book because the black is clean and sharp.
