VINTAGE MODERNIST BLACK BAKELITE BENTLEY TABLE LIGHTER NO RESERVE This listing is for ONE vintage black bakelite butane table lighter that is made by BENTLEY. It is quite large, chunky and geometric with sleek, clean lines.The lighter is marked on the brass top on 1 side with Bentley. The bottom of the aluminum butane tank is marked with "Patented in USA, Bentley, and Made in Austria. The hinged button on the top presses easily and works well. the cigarette lighter fits snugly in the case. T is no flint in the chamber.(I don't know much about lighters, so feel free to email me with questions) As for the bakelite case; it did not pass the 409 test for it had no color on the swab HOWEVER, it has the feel of a piece that has been polished. It DOES have a phenyl smell under hot water. This hefty piece weighs 6.3 oz on my Pitney Bowes digital scale. It measures 7 1/2" long on the longest side by 2" tall by 1 1/2 " across the widest part of the top w the lighter is. This would be fun to use as a display piece for bakelite bangles as well, stacking them up it's length. It is in good condition with only fine scratches due to normal wear, especially on the bottom.
