THE MONKSBlack TimeLP Reissue of their LP recorded about 1965/66. The Monks were Gary Burger (guitar, lead vocals), Dave Day (electrified banjo, vocals), Larry Clark (organ, vocals), Eddie Shaw (bass, vocals) and Roger Johnston (drums, vocals). They were five American ex-servicemen who met in Germany. Musicians like Mark E. Smith of the British band The Fall began covering Monk songs on albums and Jack White of the White Stripes and the Raconteurs pointed to the Monks as one of his influences. It’s Hardcore rock and a forerunner to Punk. (Not to be confused with The Monks group formed by ex-Strawbs members) RECORDED: 1965 RECORD CONDITION: Excellent. NO scuffs or scratches.
