Monon Route Alligator Match Safe Cast Iron Railroad

Up for bid is this antique railroad advertisement promotional item from the Monon Route Railroad also known as the Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railways Company. Featuring an alligator match safe. His head opens up to reveal a storage space for matches and the inside of his mouth is ribbed for striking the matches. Measures 8 ½ inches long by 4 inches wide. T are raised letter on his back that read: "Monon Route, Florida on the tail, Chicago on the head, Indianapolis - Cincinnati - Louisville - Atlanta on his legs. I believe this is made of cast iron and was told it dates to 1930s or 40's but I have no way to verify this. Condition is perfect with no flaws noted. The railroad earned the name Monon due to the convergence of its four main routes in Monon, IN.
