Offered is a spectacular & seldom seen piece of Monongah's Springtime pattern circa 1927! Monongah Glass Company was located in Fairmont, West Virginia, incorporated in 1903 and by the latter 1920's it was producing fine, handmade crystal in limited amounts for a quality market. Springtime, aka etch #270, was double process plate etched with a 24 carat Roman Gold band decoration. I am unsure of the intended function of this stem. It could be a tall-stemmed brandy or dessert; or perhaps a footed bonbon or confection stand. For what ever purpose chosen or if just to admire, it is stunning. This magnificent piece measures about 6-3/4" tall & 5" in diameter. Condition is excellent! No chips/cracks or repairs & minimal use. The gold remains intact. When Monongah came under the direction of Hocking Glass Co. during the years of the United States' Depression, their Springtime pattern was to become the inspiration for Hocking's vastly popular Cameo or "Dancing Girl" pattern during the 1930's. So little of the original & more detailed Springtime was made it is rarely seen today. This is a fantastic piece to add to any collection or table setting!
