~ Large & Beautiful Specimen ~

This is a Baculites Compressus

It is Cretaceous in age, approximately 75 Million Years Old

They are found in the Bearpaw Shale of Montana

They are related to the coiled Ammonites

They are known as the straight shelled Ammonites

Not to be confused with the Orthoceras from Morocco (the straight shelled nautilus).

This Baculite is 16 inches in length, and 3 1/2 inches tappering down to 2 inches in width. It is 2 inches in thickness tappering down to 1 inch in thickness.

This is an absolutely beautiful specimen, and very rare to have one at this size and beauty.

It has a beautiful crystal replacement of light and dark caramel colors. The opposite side is slightly different from the other side, but very similar in coloring. It has a very beautiful suture pattern intertwined with gold and dark carmel coloring.

The body chamber has the original mother of pearl left on this specimen. It has a wonderful irridescent coloring with dark greens and reds.

This Baculite has been polished to bring out the beauty of this fossil.

I always ship this item with a description of what this specimen looked like while alive, and an information card.
