With this edition Montblanc pays homage to the grand master of modern American literature, William Faulkner. William Faulkner, born in 1897 in the Mississippi Hills the son of a long-established Southern family, invented an entire region as the setting for his novels. Faulkner pursued new paths with his writing style, he experimented with the storytelling techniques of the interior monologue, interwoven strands of plot and ambitious changes of time and perspective which made him a pioneer on modern American literature. In 1950 the two time Pulitzer Prize winner William Faulkner was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his "powerful and artistically unique contribution to the modern American novel". The Grand Master of Modern American Literature This Writers Edition demonstrates the attention to detail shown by Montblanc's master craftsmen, and their commitment to superlative quality with regard to both function and design. The shape and surface of this unique writing instrument are reminiscent of the novelist's early creative period and the style of art deco. The black-brown precious resin, shimmering like mother-of-pearl, meets the bright brilliance of the platinum finish with its subtle ring structure. This represents a shift in point of view as we encounter it in Faulkner's works. On the cap, the precious resin is also adorned by the writer's original signature. The hand-crafted nib is particularly distinct. It is a reference to another great passion of the writer: aerobatics. Faulkner's biplane glides through layer after layer of clouds on the hand-crafted platinum-plated 18-K gold fine nib. This edition was produced in very limited numbers with only 16,000 fountain pens ever made.
