Rare and very large cut crystal or glass vase. So large that it had to be made in 5 pieces that were fused together, I believe that this may be one of the largest cut glass or crystal vases in the worldUnfortunately I have no idea where it was made or how old it is. I was told that it used to sit in the Hotel Astor in New York City. The Hotel Astor was a hotel located in the Times Square area of Manhattan, in operation from 1904 through 1967. It was perceived as the successor to the Astor family's Waldorf Astoria. I think it is possibly of Turkish origin. The shape is very Turkish looking and the cuts are similar to other smaller Turkish glass pieces I have seenI cannot verify or discount the story about the Astor Hotel but it is a monumental piece and would certainly be suitable in a grand hotelI also cannot verify the lead content as to whether it is cut glass or cut crystal but it really sparkles in the light and it is quite heavy, both of which are traits of lead crystal. Approximately 37" tall and 13" wide it weighs in around 30 poundsI have spent hours on multiple occasions trying to find a vase similar to this one and I have been unable to find anything, so I have no real idea of it's true value because I have nothing to compare it to.
