MONUMENTAL MONT JOYE CAMEO ART GLASS VASE I am pleased to present for auction this very fine MONUMENTAL MONT JOYE Cameo Art Glass Vase. Measuring 13 1/2" high by 8 1/2" wide (at it's widest point) the main body of this vase is featured in the rich emerald green CHIPPED ICE textured body with an acid cut Cameo featuring ACORNS and LEAVES with gold gilt surrounding both the top and bottom of the Vase. Very heavy and weighs 5 pounds. In doing my research I was able to find another emerald green Chipped Ice Cameo vase with this same Acorn and Leaves Gold Gilt Cameo but a different shape that was attributed to Eugene Rousseau as it was reported shown with him in a picture of with his collection. That particular piece sold for $8000. The base shows a large polished pontil mark on the base. Unfortunately, with most Mont Joye pieces their wares were not signed or t was a gold gilt stamp on the base and through the years it would wear off. This came from a very high end Collection and is guaranteed to be MONT JOYE. If you are a MONT JOYE Collector you have seen this same emerald green Chipped Ice on some of their wares. What makes this piece astounding is the SIZE and is MONUMENTAL for their type of Art Glass wares. Production Notes: Made by Legras & Cie in St. Denis (today part of Paris) in about 1900 - 1910. The firm's glass was marked either "Legras", "L & Cie", "Sargel" (Legras backwards:", "Leg", (enameled) or "Mont Joye & Cie". After WWI, the firm merged with Pantin glass works to form Verreries et Christalleries de St. Denis et Pantin RTunies, but continued to use "Legras" Signature on some enameled or acid etched vases during 1920s & 30s. Condition: No chips, cracks or breaks. Wear to the gold gilt finish on the Leaves. Shelf wear to the base. Please refer to my images as they are used to describe this fabulous piece. I have not cleaned any of the items I have listed as I have had damages to items that I have tried to clean in the past tfore, I am leaving any cleaning up to the Buyer. I just came back from a trip w I acquired a nice selection of high end Art Glass from a huge Collection of the finest Tiffany, Steuben Era Art Glass. Please check my site for these newly listed items.
