The Morey MK 1 knife was originally designed in late 1991 by Chuck Morey who was enlisted in the US Navy at the time. The interesting thing about this knife is the fact that it was the only combat knife manufactured in the Persian Gulf for use in Operation Desert Storm . To be clear, the Morey MK 1 is not a US Military issue knife, but it is highly prized by collectors. Only 500 knives were manufactured, and distributed exclusively to members of coalition forces. Additional information on this knife may be found in the November 2004 issue of Knife World magazine penned by Frank Trzaska, a well known author on the subject of military knives.The knife measures 11 inches in overall length. The stainless blade is a full double-edge design with a deep fuller , or blood groove ground into each side. The words "Morey MK 1" are deeply stamped into the ricasso . The blade is 5 7/8 inches long X 3/16 inches thick. Between the handle and blade is a full double stainless crossguard, which measures 2 inches in length. The letter M is cast into the center of the knife's black composite handle. Running vertically down the handle are three grooves for better grip, and at the butt of the handle is a thong hole.
