This antique doll was made between 1915-1922. The New York company that was a major importer of Japanese products was Morimura Brothers and during this time period produced lots of dolls since the Germans could not due to WWI. This doll stands 19-20" tall and has a ball jointed body with a bisque head. Her eyes are fixed, but probably they were able to sleep when she was new. Her compo toddler type body does not look new, nor does it look as old as the head. The head has some uneven color due to age especially the tip of nose (It is not chipped). There is a small chip in the corner of the right eye and a little larger one under the left eye. A previous owner put false eyelashes on to improve the appearance. Charming dimple in her chin. Doll's wig has been replaced but that could be changed. She has 4 teeth that show. Her tongue shows slightly and her lips are very well done. There is one red dot on each nostril. Also there is no evidence of re-painting. This doll could benefit with some minor repair to eyes and a new mohair wig. Under her wig you can see a small amount of golden blonde original hair. Doll and body are a perfect fit and she is well strung. Doll is wonderful condition for soon to be 100 yrs. old. Her neck mark is: MB Japan 4. I see no cracks or chips other than that already mentioned. I do not know the name of this read more
