" Moroccan Evening " wonderfully colourful study of Ladies Dancing , Nouveau at its very best Important French artist Louis Moreau ( 1883-1958 ) 11" x 16" framed 6" x 10" worked area Signed Louis Moreau front & verso Note Louis Moreau the younger was a wood engraver, anarchist and militant pacifist He trained as a lithographer and at the turn of the century landed in Paris where he developed a passion for drawing and painting usually in Waters Moreau formed a Nouveau group , " Les Parisians " in 1923 and went on to contribute hugely to the scene at the time . He was considered to be one of the great artists of his generation widely admired with immense talent , but always shunned stardom and actively mocked official recognition for his works After his death in 1958 , Louis Moreau,s works were finally exhibited at La Salon in Paris with his works now avidly collected and sort after This absolutely superb painting exudes Moreau,s wonderfully free open style, its inference of movement in dance along with the undertones of a romantic Moroccan evening is simply beautiful We have attempted to display images to show the depth of the artistry but they really don't do it justice Very French, superbly painted and an extremely pretty and very decorative painting indeed Condition The painting is in great condition the colours are sumptuous
