is a vintage Mosrite Bass Ventures model from the mid-late 60's. Serial number 6123. This is not the prettiest bass you'll ever see, but read on, because this is a gem in disguise! I have posted additional pictures on Photobucket, so just . I'm selling it for my brother who bought it just as you see it and he has done nothing to change it. He's been playing/collecting for over 40 years and arthritis has pretty much put an end to his playing days. He says "When played through my Hartke amp and two 15" JBL's, even with the tone control set to full bass you have a nice full musical sound instead of the 'dull thud in an empty bucket' you often get with double pickup versions." If he could still play he said he would definitely keep this one. It has a beautiful, straight, 4-bolt neck with the original finish and small dot inlays. The cream neck binding is in excellent shape and the frets show minimal wear. T are a couple chips in the finish on the back side of the neck and the headstock has minor scuffing on the edges. The headstock has the rounded "M" shape, not the sharply cut version. Has "The Ventures Model" and "Mosrite of California on the headstock. The tuners are tulip-shaped Rickenbackers, not Mosrite. Light surface rust on some of the pick guard screws. The single pickup makes it sound like a bass should! Comes with the bridge cover. Has Mosrite control knobs. The pickup cover has Mosrite of California on it, and since it does not have the trademark 'R' symbol after the name, I believe that makes it pre-'66. The wiring from the pickup into the cavity looks old. Someone appears to have replaced the wiring from that point to the pots as you can see in one of the Photobucket links. The original sunburst finish on the body was redone in speckled red and has some damage to the finish. On the back, someone added a custom pad that does make it quite comfortable. Weighs 8 lb. 3 oz on a digital postal scale. A decent hard case is included as well as a strap. Bottom line is, if you want a great sounding, great playing Mosrite and aren't all hung up on original this, original that, you need to buy this!!! Obviously it is not all original. The bass is being sold AS IS ! /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/P1160105.jpg /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/P1160107.jpg /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/P1160048-1.jpg /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/Mcase2.jpg /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/Mcase.jpg /albums/nn256/mqueeniek/Ventures%20Mosrite%20red/ventures%20mos%20w%20pad/Mfretboard.jpg Fedex does not stop every day but I can ship within 3 business days of receiving payment, usually sooner.
