Mother of Pearl Catholic Crucifix Last Rites Sick Call It’s called a Sick Call box in the case of illness and Last Rites box for the terminal for catholic religion. The walnut wood accents the mother of pearl inlay. This beautiful Crucifix measures 13 ¼” long x 7 ½” across x 1 ½” depth. It comes with original beeswax candles, glass holy water bottle (empty of course) and of much importance, the papers of what to do when you call the priest! The instruction paper in excellent condition and very readable. The candles and bottle have never been opened and still wrapped I original cellophane but it has been stored in a 3 rd floor attic so the heat has stuck the two candles together. Candles are nice as original item but unusable. The original box has top and bottom with a seam on 3 corners of the top. The box is marked on the end “GOLD FIN #928”. The instruction paper is very detailed as to the procedures and preparation before, during and after the Priests arrival. Not being Catholic I found all of this very enlightening. Condition is excellent with no damaged noted. I cannot date the item for lack of any dates on box, printed paper or item. The box is lined with a parchment paper. My guess is early to mid 1900's.
