Maria Sibylla Merian's widely known 1685 volume of botanical illustrations inspired the center motif on an original (circa 1725) Chinese export plate in Mildred Mottahedeh's perssonal collection. The Merian Service is based on these floral motifs. Raised enamels in 23 rich colors accented in gold filigree make this a timeless classic. Up for auction is a set of six (6) Mottahedeh Merian Mist bread and butter plates that are 7" in diameter. These beautiful plates have been used only a couple of times at best and are in perfect condition. T are no chips, cracks, discoloration, etc. on the plates. The details on the plates are just beautiful!! These plates will make an excellent addition to an existing collection or will be great pieces to start a collection...they would also make a great gift! I will also be listing other Mottahedeh Merian and bread and butter plates. If you purchase more than one item from me, I will happily combine shipping! Thank you so much for looking and happy bidding! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have!
