This is a cute little motto ware or mottoware teapot made by the Watcombe, Torquay England pottery 1867-1901 when the factory closed. The motto is Drown Your Sorrows In A Cup Of Tea and Burnham-On-Sea and boats on the reverse. The teapot measures 6 inches long by 4.5 inches in diameter and is 4 inches high. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks but does look like the spout was professionally repaired at some point. A very collectible piece. This famous and fun pottery has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1870s until the factories closed in the 1960s. It is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes, cottages and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous. Always fun and different and very collectible! Shipping in the US by USPS Priority Insured with tracking is $11.40.
