Mount Savage Iron Works 50 Cent Note, Mount Savage, MD. PCGS Apparent Very Good 8. Although this note is heavily circulated, and PCGS notes `major restorations`, it is still one of the most important obsolete notes in the Lehmann collection. Mount Savage, originally called Jennons Run, was known for their iron works plant, one of the largest such facilities in the country. The plant was the first to manufacture solid track rail for the nation`s railroads. This note was issued for use at their company store. Although unique is a strong word, it has long been rumored amongst Maryland collectors, that this is the one and only known example of this note. Historically important and prohibitively rare, we recommend an aggressive bid to take this note home. Shank 86.1.4 (plate note), R-7.
