You are bidding on this very near mint MSA Comfo Cap Low vein, low profile, coal miner's hat/helmet and a few additional Coal mining memorabilia items including a 6x9 inch hardback Coal Mining book Vol # 1 by Donald C. Jones in 1946 and 3 different Freight bills or tickets( One dated 1914! ) The helmet is 11 inches long,7 3/4 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches high and size 7 1/8 according to the partial remains of the sticker inside .This is the String laced version of the popular hardhat with headband complete attached except that the string that holds the straps in the center is missing . The 2 holes on front above metal band is original to attach a light to .... I would rate this relic a 9 1/2 out of 10 with only a few common scuffs and scratches. (The pictures don't do this helmet justice because of the glare ) Included in this auction is a 1946 Hardback book from the Division of Mineral Industries Extension School of Mineral Industries The Pennsylvania State College of State College Pa. Contents include Fundamental of Coalmining English ,Geology of Coal , Pennsylvania Coal Seams and Fields,Mining Physics,Gases,Chemistry,and more...
