Up for bid is a Victorian art glass dresser bowl or jar from my Aunt's collection. I searched all over the internet trying to find something like it because I am not an expert and the closest I could find was a similar jar that was not nearly as beautiful as this one. That jar was described as being made by Mt. Washington but was unmarked like mine. This jar is melon shaped with what I think is a brass lid that fits perfectly. The lid has a nice patina but does have the tiniest little dent which is visible in photo number 2 just w the light hits it, I never noticed the 11 years I have had it. Using my magnifying glass I can also see some tiny scratches but they are buried under the patina and it is possible they are original from the manufacturer. T is a tiny hole in the side of the lid so a vacuum can not form while the lid is in place. The satin surface and wonderful hand painted design of the jar is in exquisite condition except for a small amount of surface wear on the bottom (see photo). The top edge of the bowl is uneven and bears tool marks from smoothing but the blue satin glaze was applied over the top of all this and I can not see any chips that would have occurred after manufacture. T is a very small amount of dry residue on the inside (perhaps potpourri as it has a perfume smell), I did not attempt to clean it. The read more
