VINTAGE MID CENTURY MODERN MURANO ITALIAN VENETIAN ART GLASS LAMP ~ WHITE ITALIAN MARBLE WITH DARK VEINING BASE, FINIAL, AND COLUMNS ~ ~ SWIRL PINK ART GLASS WITH CONTROLLED BUBBLES ~ ~ WONDERFUL CONDITION ~ ~ NO RESERVE ~ Welcome to the month of November, and the coming of the holiday season. Being offered for your consideration, with NO RESERVE , is this wonderful Vintage Mid Century Modern Italian Venetian Pink Swirl Art Glass Lamp with Controlled Bubbles. The city of Venice, Italy, has long been associated with the production of exquisite hand blown art glass. Fear of fire from the glass blowing industry resulted in the relocation of several glass factories to Murano, a small island in the bay off the coast of Venice. The Venini and Barovier families have been involved in the production of Italian art glass for many years. In addition, Italian designers Seguso and Toso have also influenced the art and beauty of Murano glass. This table glass lamp is a lovely combination of hand blown pink swirl glass mounted with white Italian marble columns atop a tiered base. ~ DIMENSIONS ~ HEIGHT: 35 inches WIDTH OF BASE: 4 3/4 inches square FINIAL: 1 5/8 inches in height DIAMETER OF BASE OF SHADE: 17 1/2 inches ART GLASS CENTER SECTION: 10 1/4 inches in height The base is two tiers of square white Italian marble squares mounted one on top of another; a label on the base states that the base was made in Italy. . The hand blown Venetian art glass is beautiful; the color runs from a pale blue to deep pink with a vertical swirl and controlled bubble pattern. The center glass section is one piece of glass which mounts to the marble base and marble center column. The original matching white Italian marble finial is mounted on top of the brass harp. Standing 35 1/2" in total height with the harp and finial in place the lamp is designed to hold one light bulb. This mid century modern lamp is in wonderful condition; the glass is free of any chips, cracks, or flea bites. The shade is clean and free of any soil or tears to the fabric. I did notice three areas of damage to the edges of the marble base due to the age of the marble. I also noticed surface oxidation to the metal rings between the marble and the art glass. In my opinion these areas could be easily cleaned. The photographs do not do justice to the beauty, design, and artistry of this art glass lamp. This lamp has come from a smoke free estate and is odor free. ~ PLEASE NOTE ~ that any white areas appearing in the photographs are the result of flash photography, and do not exist on the actual object. ~ SHIPPING COSTS ~ All auction items will be boxed and packaged appropriately with tissue paper, bubble wrap, and Styrofoam peanuts. Because of the size the lamp base will be shipped separately from the shade; t will be a total of two boxes. The auction winner is not obligated to take delivery of the shade if it is not desired. Buyer to pay ~ $35.00 ~ for the shipping and insurance costs for the lamp box only via U.S. Priority Mail Insured shipping. If the winning bidder desires the shade could also be shipped in a separate box for an additional $12.00 for U.S. Priority Mail shipping and insurance.
