MURANO CLOWN HOLDING UMBRELLA W/OR. TAG
This fun piece being offered today is an Italian Murano Clown still bearing the original tag that shows a Gondola and the words Hand Made Venetian and J.I. Co. Made in Italy. It has been gone over carefully with my hands as well as a black light and it appears to have to chips, cracks, losses of glass, hairlines or other distressing features. I must note though that the tip of the umbrella is flat and it sits flush on his foot so I believe it was made this way without a tip or it would not sit on the foot, however, if you the collector thinks differently then act accordingly. It has been mentioned. Some rough spots around the hair but also believe this might be how the glass is made or the ridges in the hair. To describe: The clown starts with a multi spatter type pointed dunce like cap and then has the typical yellow hair with clown face, blue eyes, white lips with long red lip or tongue, white large rolled collar. It goes down into the body as clear glass but inside has a blue core to give it the appearance of blue glass. Two Buttons down the front are what I would call millefiori buttons, big black clowny feet, and holding the umbrella with a white glass hand as well as another white hand outstretched. Tag affixed on the back and pictured the best my camera could do. Measures a nice size at 12 inches and all in all a very nice example if you collect either clowns or murano/venetian glass. Being offered low to go with never a reserve.
