RARE HISTORICAL LEATHER HORSE BRUSH OF THE -NAMED AFTER THE GREATEST TROTTER THAT EVER LIVED-GOLDSMITH'S MAID! DESCRIPTION:Being offered for sale is this unusual leather horse brush with real bristles. The 8" brush long by 4 1⁄4"has a most gorgeous and beautiful patinaed leather top showing in two different circles images of the famous horse-Goldsmith's Maid and reads "WARRAMTED ALL BRISTLES", across the top of the circle and under the image of the racing horse is, " GOLDSMITH'S MAID". This horse was incredible and arguably considered the greatest trotting horse that ever lived! During her career she set the record for winning the most money ever and that took decades to break. From 1871 to 1874 she never was defeated! In 1875 she only lost one race! Her record continued when she tied her own best time at the age of 18 years old! As those that know horses, knows that is one incredible accomplishment. She won her last race when she was 20 years old! She finally died when she was 28 years old! What incredible feats/records by an incredible horse!!!! This brush should be in a museum for horses if not one for this incredible animal--Goldsmith's Maid's own museum. I don't know when this brush was exactly manufactured or by whom, but I would give an educated guess it dates to ca 1900! If you happen to know, please let me. The condition read more
