Museum Quality Cast of Fossil Bat Species: Icaronycteris index
Green River Formation Eocene Epoch Approx. 50 million years old Lincoln County, Wyoming Fossil bats are rare, and this exquisite fossil cast was produced from one of the oldest, most complete, and best preserved fossil bats known, from the Eocene Epoch, approx. 50 million years ago. It represents the holotype of the species--the specimen for which the species name was given. It was carefully hand cast in high-strength gypsum cement from a mold of the original fossil, and meticulously hand painted to faithfully reproduce the appearance of the original specimen, including the delicate bones of the tail and ribs, and the elongated finger bones which supported the flexible wing membranes in life. This specimen is shown in several books, and is arguably the most famous fossil bat. This would make a great addition to any fossil collection and wonderful conversation piece. Low starting bid and no reserve. Shipping only 3.95 for First Class postage in the contiguous U.S. Insurance 1.70 extra if desired. Bidders in Canada, AK or HI to pay actual ship costs.Payment by PayPal required per eBay policy. Thanks!
