Biography from The Nadieh Foundation website Windforce11: Nadieh was born on September 7th, 1958 in The Hague, in the Indonesian-Dutch family. She started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 11 and after she moved to Den Bosch in 1979, Nadieh began singing in local bands De Dupe and The Bill Bradley Band. They achieved some reputation on Dutch music scene with the hits 'Ik wil de straat terug', 'Stille Willie' and 'Hallo je spreekt met Karin'. Nadieh debuted as a major label artist with the single 'Right to Change' followed by full length album "Land Of Ta" on Polydor label in 1986. Single 'Windforce 11' soon scored at #23 and stayed on the Dutch Top 40 chart for over 6 weeks. "Land of Ta" had won two major Dutch music awards, a Zilveren Harp and an Edison Music Award. Nadieh also had won the Best Singer Award at the Yamaha World Songfestival in Japan. Second album "Company Of Fools" was released by Polydor in 1988. Three songs from this release - 'Katoozazaï', 'Dance to the Rhythm' and 'Haifa Blue' became hits in various European countries and in Japan. Inspired by the Italian rocksinger Gianna Nannini, whom she had met in Japan, Nadieh decided to make a more rocking record than the soft folk rock/pop of her previous works. Larry Lee produced her third long-player "No Way Back" and new album was released in 1989 by Polydor. Famous Dutch singer Ruth Jacott sung backing vocals while the song 'Splendid Morning' featured Nadieh's duet with Colin Blunstone. In 1991 Nadieh returned to her softer folky music style with Joey Balin produced fourth album "Eye On The Waves" that featured such guest musicians as drummer Curt Cress and bassist Pino Palladino. The song 'Words' scored at #34 on domestic charts. Nadieh performed a lot on German television and also visited the USA with some small concerts, but she never achieved international success. The only foreign country she became a star, was Japan. Nadieh retired in 1992 and moved to a small rural village Rhenoy in the Dutch area Betuwe.
