An exceptionally unusual leather cased German tool kit including a fine perfect grooved helical worm corkscrew. The 'penknife' shaped handle into which individually all the different steel implements fit has ebony sides (scales), the release bar in the top of the handle stamped with "D.R.G.M.897339". The tools are as follows:- File; gimlet; auger; spike (stiletto); hammer; double edged serrated knife blade, complete with aluminium protection cover which is engraved with a rule marked out in centimeters (1 - 8.5cm) one side and inches on the reverse (1" - 3 ½"); chisel; the universal handle; saw blade (also with aluminium protection sleeve); screw-driver; and perfect grooved helical worm corkscrew. Each tool named on one side " BONANZA " and " BONSA GERMANY " on the reverse. Tan coloured felt flap folds over between the two rows of implements. On the outside of the flat brown coloured leather case are embossed original owners initials in black "C. J. W. ". Size of case closed 4 ¾"wide x 5" high. Circa 1900.
