You are bidding on a Rare, ORIGINAL and OLD Beautifully Decorated NAMJI PEOPLE Fetish Wood Doll, wrapped with Green and Red Beads and Leather Talismans, from Cameroon. The Details are amazing. Namji is the people inhabiting an area in the West of the north Cameroon. The Namji tribe is famous for their wooden dolls carved with geometric features and adorned with multi-colored bead necklaces, cowrie shells, coins, metal strips, fiber and leather . The dolls held by young Namji girls to play and to ensure their fertility, are considered among the finest and the most beautiful dolls in Africa. They are carved from solid hardwood. The doll would have a name, be fed, be talked to and be carried strapped to the back everyw the child would go. The most popular place to carry ones' doll is strapped to the back the way real infants are toted around. This was the young girls' first baby. This was her responsibility. This doll helped prepare the young Namji woman for her role as mother in her future life. Though most of them represent females, they sometimes appear as couples. This is one of Many Authentic Tribal Items I had the luck to buy from Two Huge Estate collections of African Art. Some of the items were even part of a Museum Collection and some were acquired a long time ago. These collections were amazing and I bought more than 150 pieces. I will keep some items for my own collection (especially the Yoruba ones) and offer some on ebay. I do have a large collection of African images but don't have a very extensive knowledge about African Art. I just collect them because I absolutelly love Tribal Original Art. My favotite is art from Nigeria. I will try to describe the item as close as possible to what has been reported to me when I bought this collection. In this item's case all I Know is that it is Namji, from Cameroon. Maybe an expert will identify the specifics of this piece. I do not know the exact age of this item but it is old. My price for this item is very reasonable in comparisson to similar items on line. CONDITION: I will try my best to report the accurate condition of all images I am offering on ebay. This is a tribal item and buyer must understand that the surface is not smooth. T is the typical dirt and scratching to the Surface. General Wear due to its age. Mounted on Stand. Otherwise the figure is in good condition with the typical wear of old African items due to aging and use which adds character to this absolutely stunning and important collector's item. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT IT. The details are gorgeous. Please see pictures and feel free to ask me any questions about this item. It measures: 9 3/4"Tall (24.7 cm) 6" Wide (15.3 cm) 3 1/4" Deep (9.5 cm) PLEASE READ THIS: I am an extremely honest person and have excellent reputation and feedback on ebay (feel free to check it). I will make everything possible to make any ebay transaction a smooth and positive experience. I will also try to describe the item as accurate as possible. Feel free to ask me any questions and for additional photos. I only offer unique high quality items bought from very diverse sources, collections and estates. I’ll be offering other important art images, paintings, photographs and antiques on ebay. Bid with confidence. Good Luck __________________________________________________________________
