Vintage Nantucket Lightship Basket in true Classic Flawless Condition

Very detailed Scrimshaw of "Old Brant Point Lighthouse" on lid - Historic scrimshawn scene is titled below the Lighthouse in scroll "Nantucket" - Perfect condition !

We purchased this and other lovely heirlooms July 2007 and is similar to one we purchased years earlier in August 1998 - it is also dated 2007, with a Traditional Shiny 2007 Penney in the bottom!

Retail at the time in 2007 was just under $400.00

This lovely piece has not been displayed nor used and was originally purchased for a gift - kept out of direct sunlight, smoke free, and properly wrapped and stored for moving. We are now OUT OF SPACE for many of our treasures from our family's collections.

Own this Heirloom Quality piece of true American Folk Art to wear, and share as years go on- a true family heirloom.

Also a rare Nantucket which has a historic scrimshaw work of Old Nantucket Towne's Whale Industry Circa 1850 when Nantucket was home to some of the finest Whaling Ships (and crews) ever to sail the seas. The detailed and historically correct Scrimshaw adds extra beauty and value to this wonderful piece of east coast tradition and history is listed from our Family's Collection.

With traditional Island weave, hand-worked leather hinges, Swing handle is steam-bent and ALL is in perfect condition.

Nantucket Lightship Basket Historic Whaling Scene Scrimshaw

This is considered a "Standard or Classic size Nantucket" at approx. 8" oval wide x 8+" high/deep and about 7.5" deep front to back (all without handle measurements).

Conditon: As NEW condition and flawless in all aspects - nicely presented.
