This is a very well done LAREGE 100% IVORY AND WOOD Nantucket box of Scrimshaw done by Pete LaJoie signed who has been doing Scrimshaw for over 40 years. To see more on Pete Lajoie go to Google.As you can see in the pictures this is a very nice piece of Scrimshaw with lots of detail around both sides of the box .It is a Rare scene in New Bedford Ma. the whaling City on 100% real Ivory 3 1/2 " BY 3" and is a very thick piece of Ivory.THE WOOD IS EBONY THE TOP OPENS GREAT condition .SEE PICTURES A REAL BEAUTY. The boxes and stands that you will be looking at are all made by individual artists and signed and some of the boxes were made by a very well known box maker. Please keep a close eye on my eBay. However, the Post Office is not always extra careful with your delicate antique item, things get thrown sometimes and heavier objects might get thrown on top of your delicate item, so please, it is best for you to insure your item in case of damage. I will say that 95% of the time we have no problem with the shipping and handling of the item, but again for your protection please think about insuring your win.
