Here is your chance to own a piece of aviation and aerospace history! Up for auction today is a very nice 1:200 wooden desktop model of the NASA shuttle orbiter Discovery OV-103, atop the 747 used to transport the shuttle when it did not return to Florida. Discovery was one of the first three operational NASA space shuttles, and completed 39 successful missions, dating from 30 August 1984 to 09 March 2011.Model measures 14" long, 12" wide, and 7" high, and weighs 12 oz. This model is from the estate of a long-time Rocketdyne employee, and may be a display model that was not available to the public. Only flaw I can find is a very small chip of paint missing from the right forward brace under the orbiter, which is so small that it does not show in the photo. The display comes from a smoke-free home.Good Luck with your bid!
