Open to International Bidders! This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1930's National Model # 70 " New Yorker" lap steel guitar.Serial number is C 3307.As you can see from my pictures, this lap steel is pretty beat up, but it is fully functional, and it plays great and sounds amazing ! This guitar is a 23" scale model, it has a total length of 33.5" and a width of 7", depth is 1.75".This may be a slightly older model, it has the block style fret markers, whereas newer versions had roman numerals for fret markers. The area where the pickup was originally mounted has been modified to accept a different pickup assembly. The replacement pickup is mounted to a piece of bakelight plastic, along with a volume and tone control.. The body was routed out both above and below the pickup, to accept the replacement potentiometers. The pickup itself, was professionally re-wound by Lindy Fralin, and as a result, the electronics are fully functional.This guitar was originally factory strung for eight strings, the original National machines are still in place, they are missing a single tuner off of each side, and a new bone nut has been installed to allow six string set up on this instrument.The exposed cavity that is exposed below the bridge mechanism, is where the original bridge and tone control was located.
