The Panasonic RF-5000 is a shortwave radio, manufactured by Matsushita Electric Company in the late 1970s. It has heavy-weight construction throughout, including a wood and metal cabinet and a legendary receiver. This example is in excellent working and cosmetic condition. Both telescoping antennas are intact and superb. The loop MW/SW antenna is also intact and perfect. The original documentation is included, consisting of the original Instruction Book (hole punched), and Shortwave Utilization Guide in multiple languages, and the Log Book cards. The original battery tubes are included in a pristine battery compartment. The radio was tested and receives stations on FM, MW and SW bands with excellent room-filling volume and clarity. The tuning dial is counter-weighted and turns with silky smoothness. The dial light works, as does the meter. All of the band selector switches work, without the contact problem that plagues many of these radios. Cosmetically, the radio is one of the best you'll find. The perforated speaker grill is perfect. There are a couple of detractors of note: minor blemishes on the chrome, a tiny ding on the edge of the door, a ding on the AC adapter and a few barely noticeable marks on the leatherette.
