First, some customers letters, Good Morning Walking Eagle, Low and behold, t was a tube in my mailbox this morning, with a flute in it! I cringed when I saw it creased something like your shipment to England but happily it is in one piece. Oh no, it is 4" shorter than my G flute and has smaller holes. That's not a good sign. Did you send me an 'A' or a wooden Irish whistle?? Hmm, shows how wrong a first impression can be. It plays as either an F# or an F (I'm not real good with keys), any case lower than my much longer G. Though it doesn't take much air, it still pushes out great sound; it's actually easier to play. Somehow, you made a shorter, easier to play, lower key flute. So much for the rules of flutes. I think I will enjoy it a lot. Thanks for a great instrument. It is beautiful and so full of spirit I cannot wait to journey into the forest and make it part of my walk. Thank you again my friend Some personal information: (01/27/07), I became 70 years old. I have been making flutes for the better part of my life. I have been taught the Medicine Path and make my flutes in the Medicine Way. The people call me a Holy Man as I have had several Visions and am able to guide others to their visions. I am also, at times, able to receive direct communication from my Spirit Guide. Or if you have been brought up in the Christian Faith, Guardian Angel, etc. (incidently), I was also required to become an ordained minister so that I could legally perform Traditional Native American weddings. When you recieve one of my flutes, you can be certain that it has been blessed for your health and happiness. I use Sacred Sage to purify the Mind, Body and Spirit before I start to craft a flute. In case you are not familar with Sacred Sage, let me explain briefly. Sacred Sage has been used by the Native American for thousands of years. When it is burned, it gives a strong incense like odor. It fills the body with positive energy while dispelling negative energy. By some, it is called "The Breath of The Creator". If burned during meditation, it is a powerful aid to obtaining "True Meditation". Personally, I would not move into a new home without going from room to room with smoking Sage and dispelling any negative energies. I would also use it outside for the Mother Earth that the home is built upon. I personally gather the Sage (in the mountains) in a traditional manner, with the permission of the Sage, offerings, and prayers for the well being of the Sacred Sage . I also return in late summer and gather seeds which I give as gifts ( and plant ) to help the Sacred Sage prosper and spread. About the flutes: The flutes (at this time) are made of Incense Cedar as the odor is reminiscent of the Great pine forests that once covered this land. They are approx. 18 inches long with a 3/4 inch bore. They play easily with very little wind. That means you can hold a note longer and "drag out" notes from one to the next with very little effort. They are tuned to themselves. I am not familiar with "pentatonic" etc., or any of the other ways of "tuning" a flute. I was just taught to make them SOUND GOOD , and that is what I do best.
