This is a handcrafted box made of aromatic cedar. It has that fragrant smell that cedar is known for. It is made the old way using only box joints and glue. The outside measurements are as follows: 22 7/16" long, 5 7/8" wide, 6 3/8" high and the cedar is 1/2" thick. This is one solid box! All of the hardware is brass. The handle lays down. The two hinges are mounted on the back. The clasp is sturdy and capable of being locked with a small padlock. The bottom and top are lined with red felt. The outside of the box has been sanded and sprayed with several coats of lacquer for a polished finish. It is so shiney that you can see the reflection of the blanket and handle on the box! The natural beauty of the wood is intensified through this process. The knots and grain of this cedar add a lot of character to this box. This box can be used in many different ways. Cedar is known for its insect repelling properties, so this box will help protect items that are susceptible to insect attacks. This beautiful box would be a great place to store prayer feathers and fans used in the Native American Church and Peyote meetings. Elegant dance regalia would also be right at home in this box. Actually, this box could provide protection for any cherished item. The felt will help to prevent scratches, also. This is the actual box that you will recieve. read more
