This is a handcrafted box made of aromatic cedar. It has that fragrant smell that cedar is known for. It is made the old way using only box joints and glue. It measures 23" long, 8" wide and 6 3/8" tall. The cedar is 5/8" thick making it a stable box. All of the hardware is brass. The handle lays down. The hinges are flush mounted on the inside for a clean appearance from the back. The clasp is sturdy and capable of being locked with a small padlock. The bottom and top are lined with red felt. The outside of the box has been sanded and sprayed with several coats of lacquer for a polished finish. The natural beauty of the wood is intensified through this process. The knots and grain of this cedar add a lot of character to this box. This box can be used in many different ways. Cedar is known for its insect repelling properties, so this box will help protect items that are susceptible to insect attacks. This beautiful box would be a great place to store prayer feathers and fans used in the Native American Church and Peyote meetings. Elegant dance regalia would also be right at home in this box. Actually, this box could provide protection for any cherished item. The felt will help to prevent scratches, also. This handsome and fragrant box was handcrafted by a registered member of The Osage Nation.
