Hello this beautiful piece of Native American pottery was made by Hopi Master pottery maker Tom Polacca. Piece has a 32 of a inch chip in slip by Dawa, but does take anything away from this highly prized Seedpot by Tom Polacca. ( 1935-2003 ). Tom Polacca son of famed Fannie Nampeyo and grandson of the legendary Nampeyo of HANO. Tom was internationally known for his intricate style of pottery making called SGRAFFITO. He introduced this style in 1974 and in doing so Tom added a fresh contemporary flair to his vessels, thus breaking away from the traditional Sikyatki inspired designs.Tom won numerous awards during his lifetime including First Place at the New Mexico State Fair as well as Best in Class. This Seed Pot by him dates back to ( ca 1984) and measures 6 1/2 " by 7 5/8" tall. remember This seed pot by Tom Polacca is 22 years old. Vessel is crafted from all natural hand dug clay from the Mesa, also natural pigment Slip and single coil construction which is Hopi tradition
