If your a purist and like artifacts as they were found, is a nice ancient Mississippian Culture Bowl that may be as old as 800 years..IT has a red ocre paint over reddish clay with shell..It was found in Phillips Co. Arkansas and was collected in the 60's and sold to be by the heirs of the estate. The only info on this ancient jar is that it had Phillips Co. Arkansas and 1967 on the bag it was in..This bowl is strong and solid even though it has two large open cracks..They were spread by the pressure of the earth for hundreds of years and the cracks warped in the position they are in now..I wet it and tried to move them inward with no luck..Then I tried to gently break the piece out an re glue it ..IT WOULD NOT BREAK WITH A LOT OF PRESSURE FROM ME.I dried it off and decided to offer it for sale as it is with no glue, no retouch , No repair or restoration. This is not a fragile piece..Have no fear of further cracking unless you drop it off the shelf or something.This vessel has a Red Ocre Paint over the inside and out . It shows use in the bottom and shows a smoothed area on top of the break..They used it broken, but maybe not cracked as bad then.This piece is loaded with patina and more patina.The lip is slightly rolled outward an rounded . It is four inches high and 7 across the mouth and about 8 diameter.
