This Mortar and the grinding stone were found approx. 30 yrs ago by my husband near the Little Miami River in Camp Dennison, Oh. History states that his area was inhabited by the Miami Indians and the Shawnee. The mortar measures approx. 8¼" x 7¼" at the widest points. The grinding stone is approx. 3" T. This artifact would be a great collection to your Arrowhead or Indian artifact collection!
