My name is Rick Kearney and I am the maker of this Pipe Tomahawk. As you may know the English and the French traded metal pipe Tomahawks to the Native Americans in exchange for furs, hides, and beads. The Native American people decorated many of the items they recieved by adding their own (Medicine) Spirit as well to represent their Tribe.I started decorating Tomahawks many years ago, as I was raised by a Native American family, the Lakota Sioux to be exact who in turn not only taught me the craft but taught me to understand and appreciate the ways of the Native American. The "Peace Trader" French Style (reproduction) Pipe Tomahawk is approx: 19" long with a 7" antiqued brass head with functional smoking bowl. Distressed leather with antler bone, fringed leather, high dome tacks, a single feather (which may vary) representing the Spirit of Freedom tied with red trade cloth (represents power). A very fine Tomahawk that is much heavier than the "Red Hawk".
