Beautifully painted decorative clay pot for sale! This piece was made and painted in the village of Acoma in New Mexico, also known as Sky City. It measures about 8.5" x 8.5", and is painted all the way around. Most striking are the two three-dimensional figures that "cling" to the top of the vessel: a lizard and a turtle, both revered in Native American mythology and literature. The painting is mostly black on white, with some brown and turquoise accents. I purchased it about 20 years ago directly from the artist. It retailed for about $200.00 at that time.
