Native Style American Turkey Prayer Feather PF6

This handmade prayer feather measures 18" long overall. It is made with a primary turkey wing feather and includes a few amazon parrot feathers too. It's wrapped with gold deer hide and includes a few leather thongs and some yellow and green antique trade beads. This feather is perfect for smudging or for hanging on the wall. When photographing, I notice a small bend in the main feather, (see photo), I reduced the price.

This work of art was made entirely by hand with love in my Western Pennsylvania home. It was created with every attention to detail, and in harmony with nature of only materials from the earth. The feathers I use are locally collected or from a Minnesota state turkey hunt program. I purchase the entire wing and break it down. The parrot feathers are naturally molted.

I smudge all of my items before they leave me. Smudging is burned to drive out bad spirits or feelings and is a simple way of thanking the earth and purifying a space, thought, or any items of importance. Its in Native American culture, when you are in a bad mood that energy goes into what you are making so I only work on projects when I am in a good mood.
