Original Glass Plate Negative Native American Women in Frijoles Canyon Now Bandelier National Monument, New MexicoPhotographed by H. C. Tibbitts Vintage dry glass plate negative #17 34 c.1915 - very good condition and well detailed ; emulsion shows some fading around the edges; plate is overall about 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" - no chips, cracks, or other faults. The overall positive and negative scans in this listing are at a low resolution; the details are shown from a higher resolution look at the image. There is no print with this negative; the image's entry in the photographer's field log book is shown here for reference . Howard Clinton Tibbitts (1863-1937) was a San Francisco based photographer. Starting in 1892, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He photographed extensively in the American West, Canada, and Mexico, documenting landscapes, towns, industry, agriculture, parks, public buildings, and other local scenes to help promote Southern Pacific's passenger service. His work was showcased in the railroad's magazine SUNSET starting with first publication in 1898.
